About Field notes
Those who have been following along for a while may be aware of my obsession with delving into the past and seeing where or how it might influence our present interior lives. Field Notes will do just that, specifically sharing vintage design from books and magazines on my shelves and beyond.
Basically its a ‘come to the library with me’, lets geek out together and hopefully have some refreshing design take-aways that have nothing to do with an Instagram algorithm.
I will also include a Shop the Shelf when possible, where you can purchase available shared titles.
I was planning a post dedicated to bathrooms of the past but took a left turn when I stumbled on a magnificent book compiling the work of Pierre Chareau. The book is a visual feast and is linked below. It was available at the time of publishing.
Pierre Chareau : architecte, un art intérieur
LOVE this illustration of the Dalsace Residence. As so many historical interior photographs are in black and white , I really enjoyed seeing the mint and canary yellow colour combination. The 20’s were also such an excellent era for creative built-ins too. More inspiring photographs of the apartment can be found here, insideinside.org, Definitely explore the link for some wallpaper and cushion joy.
