INTERIORS NOW
Living in a mid-century home myself, I’m always excited to see renovations in these types of properties. I loved discovering the Details in Ome Dezin’s latest design. The house has sold but you can still see the full listing here , its only just gone under offer.

Of Note
Lots to love with the situation above ( circular stainless steel sink and very chubby taps make for a nice pairing and of course, there is that touch of red in the 70’s mirror.
I’ve loved cork for a long time for so many reasons ( sustainable, soft and warm underfoot, excellent sound insulation, vintage feel) . I have only ever used it on the floor. However, I absolutely love it being used on walls as per above and on ceilings.
Some other great examples if you need more convincing are Troye Sivan’s home by Flack studio where it is used to great effect on the ceiling and I love its use on the bottom half of the wall in the bedroom of this project by designer Jesse Parris Lamb
I’ll forever love circular cutouts in a door, perhaps for their Jean Prouve feel or because I want to live in the Jacques Tatie’s Villa Arpel.
I’m also enjoying the mix of woods throughout. The lighter-toned woods deliver a slightly 90s office feel of which I’m a fan; they work perfectly with the florals used to style the shoot.
A Ron Rezek, ‘4200’ Zinc Table Lamp, which sits beautifully between the excellent sofas has been on my dream list for a while. I say dream because it’s hard to find one under 1k. Here are a few if you have a similar dream and more cash than me in your pocket - US Etsy store £1,004.90, thesomersethouse.com £1,737.00 , UK Etsy store £2,800.00
INTERIORS NOW
Waldo Works
I’ve admired Waldo Works for a while. I love bold graphic forms, geometry and colour but can often feel that this direction can lack warmth and tactility. Waldo Works provides us with a master class in getting this balance right. Creating spaces that are graphic but equally inviting, warm and filled with personality.
The interior landscape of today can often feel quite formulaic, Waldo works output is really original in contrast - tackling each project with a unique approach rather than having a house style.
Below is a selection of different Waldo Works projects.
Of Note
The above space stopped me in my tracks for many reasons. It hits lots of lovely notes. The geometry in the carpentry and objects balance perfectly with the curves of the sofa and fireplace.
The Marian Pepler rug and the Ingo Maurer pendant are such perfect choices for the space as both objects embody the love language between the free form and the graphic.
The dusty pink with the pop of red in the Maurer pendant also sings.

This bathroom would perhaps be too graphic for a home ( it’s a hotel -kimptonmainfrankfurt) but its confident oddness makes it a delight in a hospitality setting.
I have no idea where you find taps like this but the Interior Miss Marple in me thinks the vanity top does look like Pyrolave. I got some samples of this material recently despite it being completely out of my budget, it’s so beautiful and the colours are so rich.
Loved discovering that the curtains above were made by laser cutting a grid out of actual wool curtains, giving them a see-through sheer effect. I mentioned lace in my last Best in show on fabrics. For me, lace can feel a little too feminine/bohemian for my own space but I love the idea of patterned light creeping through the curtains. The above provides a less dainty take on the idea that I can 100% get on board with.
Really enjoying the colour choices in the space above. Dusty pink provides a lovely backdrop for a wider colour palette of deeper primaries.

Galli studio x Servadio Architecture
So much to gawp at in this Versaille project by Galli Studio and Servadio architecture. All the usual favourites ( experimentation with materials, site-specific design choices, beautifully crafted wood carpentry with stainless steel, bold colour combined with tactility through objects and art, beautiful vintage pieces, j’adore)

INTERIORS NOW
Cyrus Ardalan and @gastesoleil
Just in case you haven’t had your fill of perfection, I had to include the Beaune project by Cyrus Ardalan and @gastesoleil.
More beautiful joinery - the square cutouts in the kickboard and the darker stained drawer and handle details made me weep. There is also a lovely combination of furniture with more rustic rush seating alongside stainless pieces and post modern pops.

I’ve fallen for this unusual side table by designer Tim Leclabart , its called Duck Boo and comes in lots of lovely colours.

OBJECT THEN
Gunnar Eklöf
I’m a sucker for a side order of whimsy and decoration with my modernism and vintage lighting seems to be where I can get my fix.
I have been feeling a little flat when it comes to the things I’m viewing through Instagram and Pinterest. Far too much sponsored and suggested posts for my liking. These Lights by Gunnar Eklof delivered that feeling of discovery and awe that I’ve been craving, hope you get the same buzz.

DESIGNER THEN
Dagobert Peche
More whimsical joy via the discovery/re discovery of Dagobert Peche (1887 - 1923)
‘…with opulent designs derived from nature; he bestowed upon everyday objects a complexity that deliberately subverted logic and utility. Peche underpinned his approach theoretically with his book The Burning Bush, in which he called for the “overcoming of utility” in order to achieve a new artistic expression.’ www.mak.at

Peche Pop at MAK - 11.12.2024—11.5.2025
I really hope Peche Pop becomes a touring exhibition as it’s unlikely I will get to Vienna before the 11th of May.
Adding the exhibtions accompanying book PECHE POP: Tracing Dagobert Peche in the 21st Century to my wishlist.
INTERIORS THEN
Filippo Calvagno’s superb photo’s of Eltham Palace are reminding me I need to revisit.

A CASE FOR RED FLOORS
It’s confirmed. We are having red Marmoleum in our bathroom and I couldn’t feel more confident in my choice thanks to the following beautiful spaces.
I am questioning if it might feel odd confined to one space as these examples use the material throughout … but we shall see … I think if I open that can of worms I may be disowned.

I recommend clicking the links below to peruse these spaces in full, they are all an absolute treat and probably deserve their own newsletter!
The home of costume designer Arjun Bhasin and Emmanuel Balayer in Mumbai, designed by architect Pinakin Patel and interior designer Bhavesh Katira in 2004 via @molde.shop ,
The home of Rowena Cox Morgan ( founder of Pale Fire Studio) featured in House & Garden,
Milanese architect Massimiliano Locatelli’s home featured in Architectural Digest ,
Home of architectural historian Otto Saumarez Smith in World of Interiors
Also worth following for red floor inspo is photographer Kerry Dean, her recently renovated house has fantastic red floors and often appears in her stories alongside many other wonderful design choices.
Regarding our choice of flooring we are hopefully going for Forbo’s Marmoleum Walton in Berlin Red. Its got a great Rust undertone.
